Skin cleansing
In fact, this very stage of daily skincare is where the acquaintance with Korean cosmetics and the Korean daily facial care routine begins.
Why is that so?
The answer is quite simple — no matter how effective the composition of a skincare product may be, its value is minimal if applied to unclean and unprepared skin.
What is the Korean skin cleansing system?
It consists of two stages:
-
First, makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum, and impurities caused by the environment (dust, city air particles, etc.) are removed. In this first step, a cleansing oil is used.
-
The second step of facial cleansing involves removing the cleansing oil used in the first stage along with any remaining impurities. In this stage, facial cleansing foams are used.
Many women, especially those with oily skin, are afraid of cleansing oils. However, these concerns are unfounded, since the role of a cleansing oil is to clean the skin, and it perfectly removes excess sebum and impurities.
Cleansing oil consists of oils and an emulsifier. When in contact with water, it turns into a gentle emulsion that effectively cleanses the skin and pores while moisturizing and nourishing the skin.
Facial cleansing foams, in turn, represent the second stage of cleansing, performed after the skin has been treated with cleansing oil. In Asia, there is a wide variety of cleansing foams available.
The most common facial cleansing products are:
-
Cleansing gel, which foams into a light lather when in contact with water.
-
Ready-to-use foams in a dispenser bottle — simply press the pump, and the foam is ready to apply to the face.
-
Special cleansing soaps for the face.
-
Special cleansing pastes.
-
Enzyme powder.
Pre-foaming the cleansing product before applying it to the skin prevents dryness and tightness. Applying already-foamed cleanser onto cleansed skin ensures a gentle effect.
What is important to remember about facial cleansing products?
They must never be foamed directly on the face, as this damages the skin’s protective barrier and unnecessarily stretches the skin.
It should also be noted that exfoliation plays a very important role in the cleansing process. It is recommended to use peels 2–3 times a week.
Include gentle enzyme peels in your weekly skincare routine — they can be used at any time of year and there’s no need to be afraid of them.
Try this cleansing routine and observe how your skin changes.
